If you want to create a comfortable pet bed, you can also use a variety of materials at home. Perhaps you have one or two old couch cushions you no longer need. You can place these in a corner of the room with a blanket or sheet over the top of it. Then, add a pillow and you have your pet bed, which sometimes is placed in a shallow box appropriate for the size of your animal.
